A BY-ELECTION has been called to find a new councillor for Salford’s Eccles ward following the death of Councillor John Cullen earlier this month.
Nominations for candidates must be submitted by noon on Friday 23 September with the election itself taking place on Thursday 20 October.
Barbara Spicer, returning officer for Salford City Council, said: “The by election has been called to find a new councillor to replace the late Councillor Cullen.
“In the coming weeks officers will be making arrangements for the election and sending out polling cards to those registered to vote in the Eccles ward.
“Anyone not currently registered to vote has until Wednesday 5 October 2011 to do so. This is your opportunity to have your say on who represents your community and views on the council and make your mark in Salford.”
