A 59-year-old man killed in a plane crash was an experienced pilot. Father-of-two Ian Daglish, from Alderley Edge, died on Sunday after being injured in the crash with another man, aged 19, who is critically ill. Their light aircraft plunged into two homes in Newlands Avenue, Peel Green, Salford on Friday. The plane was on fire as it took off from Barton Aerodrome before Daglish lost control.
THE OLD TRAFFORD florist robbery story that ended in the death of Gary Mullings keeps developing. Kyle Mullings, 18, of no fixed address has been charged with robbery in connection with the raid at the Shrewsbury Street address. Meanwhile a 72-year-old shopkeeper, Cecil Coley, has been bailed on suspicion of murder.
"WE'VE heard concerns about the police stations and we are looking at other ways to see if we could provide the service," said Chief Constable Mr Fahy. Thus the boss of Greater Manchester's police indicated he was re-considering plans to close a number of police station inquiry desks. A month ago the force said it was looking to shut 29 front desks as part of spending cuts. But Fahy said members of the public are worried by the idea.
MANCINI of Man City keeps winning trophies. On Sunday his team collected the Dublin Super Cup by routing Inter Milan 3-0. The victory included goals from the much-criticised Balotelli and Dzeko.
