LABOUR MP GRAHAM STRINGER has tabled a motion for Sir Alex Ferguson to become a Lord. Blackley and Broughton MP and United fan Graham Stringer put forward the motion before the House of Commons calling Ferguson to be awarded a peerage. Mr Stringer said: “Football is no longer just the working man's game – it permeates every level of society”.
A TEENAGE YOB sent out over a dozen takeaways to a sick pensioner’s home in a series of harassments. Eighteen-year-old Jade Daniels from Arundel Avenue, Urmston shouted abuse at the 69-year-old, and hurled missiles at his window. Daniels pleaded guilty to harassment without violence at Trafford Magistrates Court.
GREATER MANCHESTER NHS IS TO AXE £400M from their budget in order to cut costs over the next four years. The cuts are to be made by Greater Manchester's primary care trusts, in charge of GP surgeries and health facilities across the North. The majority of savings will be made by sharing management costs and not filling vacancies.
CHESHIRE POLICE HAVE OPENED AN EBAY ACCOUNT to sell off criminal assets. Offenders can be ordered to sell off their assets in order to deprive them of any financial benefit, as well as repaying the money they have made. Det Sgt Karen Jaundrill, of Cheshire Police's Financial Investigation Unit, stated: "By selling items in this way, we hope to generate a bigger income from criminal assets, which in turn will benefit victims of crime and be reinvested in local policing initiatives.
