SALFORD CITY COUNCIL has rejected plans to produce a waste recycling centre on Green Lane, between Monton and Patricroft. The new centre would have recycled up to 100,000 tonnes of rubbish a year whilst generating electricity. Up to 700 locals have opposed the centre since "It's commercial waste, and it is better off in a place like Trafford Park, not 100m where people are trying to bring up children.” Residents believe the waste ‘incinerator’ would incite serious health problems.
TWO BOYS have been arrested after beheading eighteen birds in Wythenshawe Park. They broke in to the park on Saturday between 16.30pm and 10am on Sunday. Hundreds of windows were also broken, fish were poisoned and frogs were speared. Both have been arrested. Up to £10,000 worth of damage occurred.
