The editor Jonathan Schofield is conducting a tour this Saturday. The tour will look at Manchester’s architecture - old and new, big and small, and visit some amazing interiors.
The tour won’t be about constructional methods and technical details but about the story behind the buildings, why they were built, the personalities of the architects and how Manchester’s street scene knits together. It will discuss successes and mistakes in a frank, opinionated, passionate and informed way.
The route will be a magical mystery tour mingling key buildings that are well-known and not so known. There might even be the odd laugh.
The price is £6 for adults and £5 for concessions. The tour starts at 3pm at Manchester Visitor Information Centre, Piccadilly Plaza, Portland Street, M1 4BT. Just turn up, or for further details call, 07876 235638.

great idea which I and the wife would have been most interested in but its been organised at the same time United kick off at home against birmingham - bad timing me thinks ! As the majority of mancunian football fans support United and if its got to be on a Saturday wouldnt it be more advisable to organise when City are at home ?
Phildered, who'd have thought that United would kickoff at 3pm on a Saturday. And of course all the Birmingham fans, well-versed in architecture, will miss out too.
I wish you would give us more advance notice of these sort of events!
Sunday would be a much better day!
Will it be repeated? Sounds right up my street but can't make today sadly.
Hi Jonathan, do you ever do any tours in weekday evenings, during the Summer?
I do Anon. I do them all year round and at lots of different times. Our winters can be difficult occasionally but generally there's not a problem you know. I'll let you know. If you want to keep warm come on Confidential's tunnel tours and our haunted undercroft experience.
