Tracey Emin coming to Manchester in October

Tracey Emin’s pop-up shop, Emin International, will be at The Manchester Contemporary art fair, which takes place in the Spinningfields district of the city from October 28-31.

Emin International sells limited edition prints, books, posters, t-shirts, canvas bags and home accessories which feature recognisable motifs from Tracey’s work.

At The Manchester Contemporary, Emin International will be selling new editions including You Can’t Fuck A Shoe and a series of three new monoprints, Tiny Gold Hearts, Moth, and Dragonfly.

“As soon as I heard about it I wanted to be involved,” said Emin. “I think it's great that dynamic art is being spread throughout the UK."

The Manchester Contemporary is sponsored by Bluefin Insurance Services in conjunction with AXA Art Insurance, and Jaguar Cars Limited.

Running in tandem with The Manchester Contemporary is Buy Art Fair, which has now become a fixture on Manchester’s art scene. Now in its third year, the Buy Art Fair also takes place in Spinningfields, from October 28-31. Art lovers visiting Manchester will have the chance to buy prints and art work from top names on the British art scene, such as Damien Hirst, Banksy and Stanley Donwood. Respected galleries artrepublic and Eyestorm will both be bringing prints from all their favourite cutting-edge artists, including prints from Damien Hirst’s new butterfly collection.

Lindsay Alkin, artrepublic gallery director, said: “We’re really excited about doing the Buy Art Fair for the first time. It’s a great opportunity to introduce artists from our London and Brighton galleries to art collectors and enthusiasts in Manchester.

“We’ll be showcasing a wide range of limited edition prints from artists including Banksy, Damien Hirst and Peter Blake, plus other immensely talented British artists such as Andrew McAttee, Eine, Dan Baldwin, Brad Faine, Screen Prince and Graham Carter. In addition, we’ll have work by US artists Obey and Mr Brainwash.”

John Dare, director of the Buy Art Fair, said: “It’s fantastic that the galleries exhibiting at the Buy Art Fair have such a high standard of work for sale. Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Banksy are some of the most popular modern British artists today, and prints are an affordable way to kick off an art collection.”

In addition to the 60 galleries selling contemporary art, there will be talks on all aspects of art and art-buying, and Manchester-based Cornerhouse will be featuring a book store at the event, selling a range of contemporary art books, DVDs and prints.

The Buy Art Fair is sponsored by Bluefin Insurance Services in conjunction with AXA Art Insurance, and Jaguar Cars Limited.
