Manchester’s over 50s clubbers can once again rev up their Vespas and put on their dancing shoes for the second instalment of My Generation - the clubnight held at Band on the Wall.
The event, on Sunday 13 February, and will offer Manchester’s more mature clubbers the chance to re-live the moves and music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. It looks set to become a regular night.
The event is the brain-child of 60-something Manchester resident Joyce Gill.
Joyce, from Crumpsall said: “I still like to go out, listen to music and dance - not always to a pub. The first ‘My Generation’ event last September went beyond my expectations. It was a fabulous night and has fired my enthusiasm even more for the next one. I want to do something for those who’ve felt omitted from Manchester nightlife because of our age.”
Live music comes from 60s beat group tribute act The Cavernites, with DJs from Band on the Wall’s Satisfaction Club providing a soundtrack of mod classics, rock’n’roll, Motown and soul. Soul
Tim Chatterton, at Band on the Wall said: “We want to respond to all those people that used to go out on a weekend to dance in Manchester’s clubs and dancehalls and who miss the great social buzz of meeting new people and having fun."
Maybe keep an eye out for Lucille - the clubbing trolley given a second lease of life by brand agency Transmission Creative, she's had enough of her shopping days and is now on tour promoting the club night at venues and shop windows across the city.
Tickets are £4 and can be purchased from Band on the Wall’s box office and website. The event is organised by Band on the Wall with support from the North Manchester Regeneration team. Tickets/Info: bandonthewall.org

I attended the first My Generation event which was held as part of the Valuing Older People Full of Life Festival and it was a huge success. Older people "rock" and really know how to have a good time. I, for one, am looking forward to Sunday night xx
There's life in the old dog yet - about time we had a place where music is what it used to be
