The UK smoking ban is fast approaching, and by this time next year we’ll all have clean lungs and lovely fresh smelling clothes and hair. Hurrah!
July 1st 2007 will see smoking banned in all public enclosed spaces in the UK, something which is generally accepted as a positive step by the government.
But if you’re already sick and tired of smelling and feeling like Smokey Dave the local tramp after a night out, then you might be interested in hearing about Pure’s Christmas party, entitled ‘Fresh’, because that’s just how you’ll be feeling when you go home. Well, depending on how much you drink of course.
Pure, the gigantic underground labyrinth in the Printworks (always let your friends know when you’re going to the bar and when you’re expecting to be back – there have been reports of people being stuck in there for days), is hosting Manchester’s first smoke free Christmas party, in conjunction with Smoke Free Manchester.
Former boy bander Lee Ryan will perform at the party, and says “I can’t wait to appear at ‘Fresh’, there’s always a great atmosphere in Manchester, and this is going to be one massive Christmas bash.

“Going Smoke Free is a good idea. I think it will help many smokers to give up and hopefully will discourage young people from starting in the first place.
“‘Fresh’ is a party for everyone to enjoy, it just happens to be in a Smoke Free environment which is the way it will be for everyone in the future.”
Key 103 DJ’s Chelsea (oh she of a hundred Manchester buses) and Ditchy will be on the decks, supporting Key 103’s charity Manchester Kids, to whom all proceeds from ticket sales will go.
Advance Tickets for the party are on sale now, priced just £3.00 with all proceeds going to Manchester Kids, Key 103’s nominated charity. For more details go to www.key103.co.uk/fresh
