If there's one thing Manchester isn't short of, it's bars. But decent bar-cafe-nightclub combo's are harder to find. Space is a secluded little hideout on New Wakefield Street next to Revolution and Font. You might know it as Sub Space or Pure Space but the brand has had a makeover since then and now falls under the one name- Space. The separate areas are still there but seeing as you can drink, dine and dance all in one venue, it now makes sense that it all comes under one name. This place has always been popular, notably due to its varied, club nights hidden behind an understated exterior. And there's more going on than just booze and bites.
Come rain or shine Space uses it's spacious, covered roof top to host Friday night barbecues. Choose from burgers, chicken, sausages and stone-baked pizzas along with chips and a varied salad. Beef burgers are priced at £3 and Cajun chicken breast £3.50. Both of these came with salad and buns. This area is also perfect for smokers who don't enjoy having to leave a venue to smoke. The terrace can be enjoyed by all.
Back to the bar and Space serve a wide range of cocktails including favourites Long Island Iced Tea and Bloody Mary's plus a selection of specialised, gin, rum and tequila based cocktails. The bar is now open plan and they've exchanged the booths for bigger and more sociable seating.
Space has been refurbishment to coincide with the modern food and drinks menus, but it's still the same recognisable bar that has kept it firmly on Manchester's nightlife scene for over five years. The venue is still over three floors from the underground club, to the spacious dim-lit bar and the airy terrace. It has an area to suit every taste, whether it be a relaxing quiet drink, loud social club or a romantic meal.
Space still have their popular themed nights to chose from. Whatever your musical taste there's a night for you. Make is one big night out.
