The Castlefield Hotel

They're after hens, stags, weekenders, and people looking for a money-saving Sunday lunch

Published on December 15th 2008.

The Castlefield Hotel

The Castlefield Hotel is already popular with out-of-towners who want a base for a city break in Manchester. Located just off Deansgate, and with a spa and leisure facilities at the Y Club, it ticks the boxes for weekend getaways. The majority of their business comes from this market and the corporate crowd making use of their conference facilities – but their offers and deals are also worth knowing about if you're local.

The first one that struck us was their Sunday lunch for £6.95. Perfect if you've spent all your cash on Saturday night and now have a hangover-fuelled craving for a proper roast. The price tag makes us think of those special offers for seniors that you see advertised for Tuesday lunchtimes at suburban pubs. The reality is much more upmarket – the Castlefield Hotel promises 'the finest cuisine, impeccably presented and served' in a restaurant and lounge bar that overlooks the Castlefield canal basin and arena. If you're tempted, you can get your Sunday roast between 12 noon and 6pm on, er, Sundays.

Another notable deal is their weekend break for £90 per person (based on two people sharing). This includes an en-suite room for one night, a three-course meal (with half a bottle of wine per person), VIP entry to The Birdcage or Pure nightclub in the Printworks, and breakfast the next day. You can also make full use of the swimming pool and exercise classes at the Y Club for no extra cost. And if you're looking for a pampering experience, you can book into the Castlefield Spa which offers a range of beauty and relaxation treatments.

This deal is particularly popular with hen and stag parties who want quality, city centre accommodation, food, and entertainment in one package. But it's also pretty good if you're just planning a night out with your friends – if you add up the cost of a meal out, nightclub entry, and then a taxi home, you're close to the £90 mark already. And here you get a nice, comfortable hotel room with satellite TV, and a swimming pool to recover in the next day.
