Hip-hop, grime, R&B, dub-step, dance, garage tend to fall under the umbrella of ‘urban’ music although the MOBO awards have a more direct definition - Music of Black Origin. It’s often considered a controversial title but perhaps one we like to think is aimed at highlighting a culture and the music that came from it, more so than a specific race.

The inaugural MOBO Tour which will give fans across six UK cities the chance to discover some of the UK's hottest new acts

Founded in 1995, the MOBO awards have featured some big acts including Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Tina Turner, Jay-Z and Amy Winehouse. Despite attracting stars from the USA, the organisers are keen to keep British acts in the spotlight.

A line up of the UK underground urban acts has been added to the bill for the inaugural MOBO Tour which will hit six major cities around the UK this October. ‘King of Grime’ Skepta will host the event in Manchester welcoming acts such as Donae’o, Scorcher and MZ Bratt to Moho Live. The tour will also feature new breakthrough acts including Maverick Sabre, Ruff Diamondz (RD), Jodie Connor and Angel.

Kanya King, MOBO founder said: “As part of our 15th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to reveal the full line-up of the inaugural MOBO Tour which will give fans across six UK cities the chance to discover some of the UK's hottest new acts. We’re proud to celebrate the amazing talent of these rising stars who reflect the unstoppable success of new black music."

The Mobo Tour will be at Moho Live on Friday 15 October. Tickets cost £10 and are available at www.gigsandtours.com / 0844 811 0051
