LUKE BAINBRIDGE, writer and broadcaster, will be in conversation – that’s the idea anyway – with Shaun Ryder to promote the latter’s autobiography 'Twisting My Melon'. Depicting a life of extremes, from his time as lead singer of Happy Mondays, to his comeback with Black Grape, and the many years of excess and struggle that followed, Shaun Ryder’s autobiography reveals a man of many guises. There’ll be laughter and tears, fun and romance. Something like that. Maybe even the odd scurrilous story.
Ryder verbally plays Waterstone’s Deansgate (0161 837 3000) on Thursday 15 September from 7pm-8pm. Tickets £5 (£3 with a Waterstone's Loyalty Card). The week after Ryder and Bainbridge are at Leaf, 65-67 Bold Street, Liverpool, Thursday 22 September, 7pm-8pm – tickets £5/£3 from Waterstones on 0151 708 6861

Shame he comes over so inarticulate and thick when he opens his mouth, cos I reckon he's actually quite bright beneath all the bravado and bluster. 5 quid seems fair value though.
Good event. My personal highlight was the slightly sad revelation that Ryder has built a tiny Hacienda in his garage complete with bar made out of bits of the Hacienda because "you can't smoke in pubs anymore".
