MANCUNIAN troubadour Danny Mahon has teamed with local multi-media company Tunafish Media – led by Confidential’s own Smudge Jones - and Cheshire-based record label PlainSounds to produce his first music video.
The video for ‘Odd Sock is the Secret Recipe’ was shot on a rainy weekend in Salford with the track coming from his upcoming debut album which is released on 16 April to coincide with UK Record Store Day.
Mahon already has garnered the support of the city with his double A-Side ‘Beat Me Up/AK-47’ becoming Piccadilly Records highest selling vinyl in 2010.
The project really is a collaboration between two rising talents; Mahon has been placed on the Glastonbury emerging talent list whilst Tunafish Media are set to be profiled in GQ magazine as part of a feature about the city’s media industry.
Mahon was keen to work with Tunafish Media on the project. He said the idea for the video was ‘brilliant’ . “I was dead pleased that Tunafish Media wanted to work with me on this video,” he said.
Sam Jones of Tunafish Media said: “It was a great process, featuring a lot of local talent and we are pleased to have been a part of it”.

danny played at kendal calling last summer, in place of a talk from howard marks, and turned out to be the best thing I saw all weekend! Look forward to getting the album!
