YOUNG jazz quartet Empirical returns to the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) later this month with music from its current album, Elements of Truth.
In just a few short years Empirical has carved a place as one of jazz’s most exciting young bands, winning numerous awards, including the 2010 MOBO for best jazz act and Jazzwise and MOBO albums of the year.
Elements of Truth, the second album with the band’s current line-up (Nathanial Facey, alto saxophone, Shaney Forbes, drums, Tom Farmer, bass, and Lewis Wright, vibes) and its third in total, offers a unique edge as it draws inspiration from film, TV, proverbs, sayings and even sport, taking listeners on an exciting journey of jazz composition and improvisation.
Empirical can be seen at the RNCM on Saturday 21 January at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £18, £16, £14. To book call 0161 907 5555 or visit www.rncm.ac.uk
