THE Northern Quarter has an addition in the form of Lola. This place claims to be the 'city’s first and only Miami style cocktail bar'. Confidential isn't exactly sure what one of these is but heard that the place looks a good 'un.
Guests enjoyed a host of 'nautical entertainment' and sampled the cocktail menu, including classic, boutique, twisted and frozen cocktails.
The bar comes from the team behind the frankly weird Crown & Anchor pub and well-loved Lammars. There's booth-style seating, 'beach-combing chic' and one of the largest fish tanks in any bar. The capacity is a 150.
The launch was last week with soap stars and footballers along for the ride. These included Michelle Collins who in the picture below is either very short or the tall man, who seems to have forgotten his clothes, next to her is actually a skyscraper.

Lola's cocktail mixers Sean Porter and Tom Gibbs created Miami themed collations such as Miami Nice (Gala Apple Vodka, Xante Pear Liquor, Apple and Vanilla) and Mozart Magic (Black Chocolate Liquor, Gold Rum, Caramel, Milk and Cream).
The Tariff Street bar, will be open throughout the week (apart from Sundays) from 5pm to 2pm over the weekend. There'll be a buy one get one free offer on selected cocktails every Monday to Thursday from 5-7pm. It's available for private parties and so on. Does a celebrity launch mean that just the celebrity goes?
Where is the celeb?
I'll probably love it, but it's a surprising concept if you consider that the 80's fad has all but passed and we've got sod loads of tiki bars in Manc already (incidentally I love tiki bars). Will have to check it out, complete with garish hawaiian shirt and a rolled up white blazer...
garish being the key word i think. Still, the bogof may entice me in
Great if you love the stink of chlorine from downstairs. Unless they've actually managed to fix that.
Miami it isn't. But they play some wicked tunes and it's actually OK late on. Less cocktail messin' and more beer servin' though eh!? Shame the ladies that ran 57 weren't able to keep hold to it, though from what I hear that wasn't up to them. Big shame if the rumours are true! But now we have Lola's, just like Hula Tiki Lounge? Maybe. But it's cheap and cheerful and there's plenty of seats. And if they still do food... erm no, I don't want to eat it. Grrrrrrrr.
Sounds like an advertorial written by the bar themselves.
Really Fantastic cocktail lounge, really relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of music. Bar prices are not to overly priced but the quality of the drinks are 110%. Recommend anyone to go. 10 out of 10
