The Gin Club is a little bit of sophistication in the studentlands of Fallowfield. With its 1920s décor, extensive cocktail menu, and funky soundtrack, it's well worth the bus trip up Wilmslow Road. Particularly if you're one of the four lucky readers who wins a £30 bar tab to spend there.

Their cocktail menu and friendly, ego-free staff more than impressed our drinks writer Thea Euryphaessa when she visited The Gin Club in January – click here to read the review. Their award-winning mixologist Nikki Goddard assisted in the creation of a divine selection of drinks, with classics such as the Sloe Gin Fizz and Mai Tai alongside more unusual creations such as the Manchester Tart (strawberry, Disaronno Amaretto, coconut syrup and light chocolate liqueur, shaken with cream).

They're all a fiver or just over, and there's a 30% discount between 5pm and 9pm every night – which is another reason why this place is becoming known as one of the best bars in the southern suburbs.
