Churrasco

The Brazilian Churrasco

The tradition of the Brazilian chrrasco (barbecue) started in the 17th century in the South of Brazil. Large past of this region is covered by the flat lands of the Pampas, an area where vegetation favours cattle farming and is famous for producing some of the best meat in the world.

The Brazilian cowboys, known as gauchos, roast large cuts of meat on skewers very slowly over an open wood-burning fire and with patient and skill they capture the individual flavours of each meat and seals in juices and flavours creating a distinctive and unforgettable experience.

Honouring this long history Tropeiro invite you to sample the true atmosphere of South Brazil. Valuing the Brazilian ingredients and regional culture, we prepare, season and roast our meats to perfection. We invite you to experience the uniqueness of this cuisine, with all its flavours, colours, textures and aromas, and of course, our very special way of serving it.

Tropeiros

The Tropeiros were the first Brazilian cowboys, they lived a semi-nomadic life and their adventures produced very brave men that left deep historic tradition in the South of Brazil.

The Tropeiros during the Brazilian gold Rush were responsible for bringing the cattle, horses and mules, from the south of South America to the mines in the central region of Brazil. Their first journeys took more than a year to be complete, as there were no routes, they had to bypass forest, rivers and Indian areas to get to the South region.

As their journeys evolved and intensified they traced routes and in places were where they stopped for cattle resting and grazing village and settlements started to emerge. Their activities were of special significance in the conquering fights for this region by the Portuguese. By their hands of the South region enters the history of Brazil and its vocation for cattle farming is consolidated.

The name of our restaurant is homage to these men that were brave enough to go to far away lands to bring the cattle that would feed the miners.

In a way we feel the same, as we have come far away from our home in Brazil to bring the Brazilian churrasco (barbecue) to the people of Manchester.
