Christmas At Vertigo

FOODIES looking for a Christmas lunch or dinner characterised by extra-special ingredients and lavish flavours should check out Vertigo's just-released festive menus.

The restaurant and bar on John Dalton Street has just scooped two nominations from Manchester Food and Drink Festival – including Chef of the Year for Ian Armstrong. Their Christmas Lunch Menu and Christmas a la Carte Menu give a glimpse of what the fuss is about.

A mixture of classic dishes for the traditionalists and contemporary recipes for those who prefer to mix it up a little, they'll keep everyone in your group happy.

Starters include Terrine of ham hock, with foie gras and wood pigeon, served with pear and saffron chutney, toasted sour dough bread, and crispy capers. Carpaccio of beetroot, Tempura king prawn cocktail, and a Cappuccino of white onion and cider soup
with truffle oil are your other options.

Ballotine of turkey will be the main attraction for the purists, stuffed with chestnuts, cranberries, smoked bacon and sage, chateau potatoes, honey roasted chantenay carrots, creamed cabbage and red wine jus.

Saving your traditional dinner for Christmas day? Then there’s Roast sirloin of Cheshire beef or Salmon tikka masala with puy lentil dahl, potted shrimp samosa, lime pickle and coconut foam to get you going instead.

Vegetarians won't feel neglected with a Wild mushroom, lentil, goat’s cheese and red onion wellington to feast on. The lunch time vegetarian option is a lighter but no less delicious Fricassee of wild mushrooms with gnocchi, baby spinach, parsley and walnut crumb.

Desserts include Chestnut parfait with burnt butter ice cream, honey fancier and bitter chocolate sauce. Or how about the traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, and mince pie ice cream?

The lunch menu costs just £25, with the evening menu set at £45. Both include a petits four selection and coffee.

There's a private dining room which you can reserve for larger groups. Or you can dine from the Christmas menus in the main restaurant if you're with a smaller party.

Vertigo is a dramatic, statement-making venue spread over five floors. Head chef Ian Armstrong has worked in some of the North West's most renowned restaurants.

To book or find out more, please call Vertigo on 0161 839 9907. The menus are available from now right up until Christmas.

Vertigo is also running an offer on a cocktail plus three courses and half a bottle of wine offer for £29 at the moment. To find out more click here.
