Francs in Altrincham is one of those out-of-town restaurants that doesn't always get the attention it deserves. Its owner and head chef Nick Banks, has got the menu spot on – his dishes are imaginative and bold but not so much that things get silly. He's a Francophile who knows how to cater for the best British tastes, and it's evidence of his popularity that Francs always has a nice buzz about it of an evening. It's just a short stroll from the Altrincham tram station, in the charming little courtyard of Goose Green.
We headed there to try Francs' new Strictly Confidential dinner menu – three courses plus a glass of wine for £22. A big hit on the starter front was the omelette de confit de canard – not a combination we'd seen before in a French restaurant but one we'd definitely have again. Sweet duck and shallots in a perfectly made omelette topped with peppery rocket. The cocktail aux crevettes modernes was a stand-out dish as well – a crunchy cheddar basket packed with big fat prawns and a Marie Rose sauce with a shot of brandy to give it a good kick.
The mains included a juicy and tender lamb rump with crunchy, spring fresh vegetables, and a Thai-inspired supreme de volaille Pacifique – chicken breast made divine by coconut milk marinade, and served with a tangy mango-scattered salad.
The desserts were worth the tram journey alone. The lemon tart was refreshing and light and came with a scoop of beautiful cassis sorbet. The crème brulee was creamy, smooth and perfectly set – check out the pictures below if you want to swoon.
This superb deal is only around until the end of June. You get 3 delicious courses and a glass of wine for a mere £22. Book it now before it goes.

I first went to Franc's about 6 months ago on a previous Mancon deal and i wasnt disapointed. I've been back twice since as a 'proper' diner and i've gotta say i cant fault it. I'll definatly be going on this Mancon deal, if for no other reason i agree with the creme brulee statement, its divine.
Ed. Has this deal been extended? I thought i might have a go tonight
