The Manchester Confidential Pub Tour: Saturday 27 February
Drink, madness and crazy stories on a Confidential stumble around the city
Just about the most popular tours in Manchester are pub tours.
You can drink alcohol, you don't get cold, and they're a bit silly.
The tours are full of classic hostelries and the crazy stories associated with them. They are informative, entertaining and on occasion astonishing. So while we have fun you'll gain a true picture of the pub's rollicking role in British history. And the role of the pig in that rollicking role. Yep, you heard.
And there's more.
On Confidential's generous excursion around city centre pubs, there's an additional bonus. We re-visit that old favourite the pub quiz. In a startlingly brief and curious quiz of eight questions guests will be able to win local specialities that will make them weep with joy. Or just weep.
There will also be at least one miraculous musical visitation from the past and a short activity requiring two volunteers from the audience which will be – relatively - painless.
There are two routes one into the Northern Quarter, one south to the Briton's Protection, taking in four pubs each in two hours with commentary and activity throughout.
If we do right we'll all end up looking like the people in this picture of a Deansgate pub in the 1880s. Well, the ones who do it properly will.
