Big party in Albert Square on Saturday 4 August with Sven Goran-Eriksson and Thaksin Shinawatra

There’s a new football chairman in town and controversial or not, he’s introducing himself with style. Thaksin Shinawatra, the new owner of Manchester City Football Club, is hosting a huge street party this Saturday and you’re all invited. Shinawatra, who gained control of the club earlier this month, will be hoping for a blue day complete with blue skies in a bid to endear him to City fans and neutral Mancunians alike.
The ex-Thai prime minister will be hosting an evening of Thai entertainment as part of the OneCity events celebrating the cultures of Manchester. A host of artists will be performing at the event in Albert Square, including Thailand’s most popular songstress Mai Charoenpura. Free Thai food will be cooked fresh on the spot and there’ll be a licensed bar to help you wash it all down. |
Special guests in the form of new City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and several of the first team squad are expected to drop by after the team’s friendly home game against Spanish side Valencia. Limited transport will be provided to take supporters from the Eastlands Stadium to the event in the centre of the city after the game. The evening commences at 6pm and finishes at 8.30pm. With DPercussion down in Castlefield and now this it looks like Saturday 4 August will be one to remember. |
