Retail heaven, sunbeds take over Manchester, a new celebrity fragrance and black trews for all

SPINNINGFIELDS RETAIL CENTRE LANDS SOME BIG NAMES: The Avenue will be launched this autumn, and it already boasts an impressive list of retailers. It will be anchored by Emporio Armani and Armani Collezioni and will be one of Manchester's first central destination for international luxury brands. Other brands signed up include Flannels, Mulberry, Brooks Brothers, Ermenegildo Zegna and Joseph. Oliver Sweeney was recently added to the line-up. Developers are hoping the 40,000 sq ft of retail space will be a good place for customers to buy their next collection piece. The great selection of fashion will also be matched with a new food offer that may even see Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant brand show up in the city.
JENNIFER ANISTON RELEASES NEW FRAGRANCE: The perfume was launched at Harrods where Aniston held a meet-and-greet. Confusion exists about the name of the product though. Initially called ‘Lolavie’, reports suggest that it received a last minute name change to just simply ‘Jennifer Aniston’ to avoid confusion with something similar on the market, Marc Jacobs’ Lola. The debut fragrance by Aniston is priced at Ł36 for an 85ml bottle. She has described the scent as a “sexy, clean smell” that is “sort of non-perfumey.” Eh?
GREATER MANCHESTER HOLDS SUNBED RECORD: A report by South West Public Health Observatory shows that Greater Manchester has more sunbeds than anywhere else in the UK. With 75 tanning salons, Wigan has the third highest concentration of salons, 24 for every 100,000 people. Salford came in ninth, with Warrington, Bolton, Tameside and Bury also in the top 20. The report also showed that areas of high deprivation have more sunbeds.
GAP’S NEW TROUSER LINE: A range of black trousers will be released by Gap on 27 July. It is made up of five main trouser styles for different body types, from skinny to boyfriend fit and uses the same silhouettes as the brand’s very successful 2009 denim collection. With black trousers being a necessity for most and one of the most versatile items in a wardrobe, this collection might come in handy.
