LONDON'S ALL STAR LANES Bowling Alley is opening up in Manchester city centre. The ‘boutique bowling’ experience will open next summer in the southern part of the city centre and will be a permanent fixture. Operations Director Graham Hall says All Star Lanes in Manchester will have eight lanes in the main hall and two in a private room. The venue will also offer home cooked American style food and a cocktail bar.
THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION has charged Manchester City's Mario Balotelli for violent conduct in City's game against Tottenham last Sunday, where Balotelli appeared to stamp on Scott Parker. Balotelli could get a four match ban for his behaviour. City has until 6pm on Wednesday to decide whether to appeal or not.
POLICE ARE NOW INVESTIGATING six deaths at Stockport's Stepping Hill Hospital after the death of John Beeley last Friday. The deaths are all believed to be related to saline drip sabotage, where insulin was mixed in the saline. The six are among 21 people police believe to have received insulin contaminated saline.
A ROCHDALE RESIDENT HAS WON £3,500 in compensation from Walkers, four years after nearly choking to death on a rubber mould from his packet of crisps. The man was saved by his son, but chemicals from the object seeped into his stomach and it took him three months to regain full health.
This day in 1867: The Albert Memorial, Albert Sq, was formally presented to the citizens of Manchester. It predates the Town Hall (completed 1877)
