City News In 250 Words: Wednesday 11 January

A COUPLE from Bolton have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of their six-week-old son. The baby died at Liverpool’s Alder Hay Hospital after being transferred from Royal Bolton Hospital on Friday. His parents, a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man from Heaton, are being questioned by police. Tests are currently being carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

A MAN has been found dead at his home in Monsall. The 46-year-old, who is thought to have been assaulted on Monday, was found on Upper Monsall Street at around 7.45pm last night. Emergency services were called but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem is expected later today. Police are appealing for witnesses.

THE MOTHER of a man who was stabbed to death in Wythenshawe on Sunday has paid tribute to her son. Christopher McFarlane, 32, was found by police in Tayfield Road and a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Mother Annette McFarlane said: “Words cannot describe the devastation we are feeling. Christopher, we will miss you so much.”

TRAFFIC has been queuing for up to 23 miles in Greater Manchester after a crash involving four-cars on the M60. The accident took place at the anti-clockwise carriageway near junction 13, at Worsley, at around 7am this morning. Traffic has been queuing back to junction 20 of the M62, at Rochdale, and junction five of the M61, at Westhoughton. The accident is not thought to have been serious.
