A photographic exhibition capturing the history and work of Wood Street Mission will go on display in Manchester from 30 July to 1 August.

The Creative Friends of Wood Street’s panel has a number of high-profile creative figures, including renowned graphic designer Trevor Johnson, who was behind the branding for Factory Records and Hacienda Nightclub Fac 51, and others from social media, events, video games and education backgrounds.

The children's charity, based in Wood Street, just off Deansgate, has been providing help to children and families in the Manchester and Salford areas since 1869. It provides clothes, food, baby supplies and even goes the extra mile by ensuring that every child goes away without a present at Christmas or an egg to celebrate Easter.

The exhibition will feature photographs by Andrew Brooks who has been working with Wood Street to restore historic images of the charity's work and capture its recent activity. He has a highly impressive portfolio and has been commissioned to take pictures of many of Manchester's landmark location including the University of Salford and the Museum of Science and Technology.

It is the first in a series of events organised by the Creative Friends of Wood Street, a group set up to raise awareness and funds for the charity among the creative, digital and cultural industries.

The Creative Friends of Wood Street’s panel has a number of high-profile creative figures, including renowned graphic designer Trevor Johnson, who was behind the branding for Factory Records and Hacienda Nightclub Fac 51, and others from social media, events, video games and education backgrounds.

The exhibition will be on display in Spinningfields at the unit next to Cafe Rouge, Irwell Square, Leftbank.

"every child goes away without a present at Christmas" Pretty sure that should be "with a present a Christmas"!! Wood Street are a great local charity, they're not The Grinch! The exhibition's fab btw, definitely go and check it out.
