Urmston Ups The Game

Ask Builds An Eden

Urmston Ups The Game

ERIC Wright Construction will start this month on the latest phase of Ask Development's retail-led Eden Square in Urmston.

The 38,000 sq ft phase is largely pre-let, with deals agreed by Iceland, Aldi and Quality Save in larger units over 10,000 sq ft. This leaves two small units to let, one of 3,000 sq ft on Flixton Road and another of 1,400 sq ft in the Square.

Leon Guyett, development director of Ask Developments, said: "This is a great start to the new year. We have successfully brought a number of national retailers to Urmston, however, it has always been our intention to attract local shopkeepers to the scheme too and the remaining units in phase two are flexible enough to meet the requirements of smaller tenants.

"We will continue to work with both the Urmston Partnership and the town centre management team on achieving that ambition."

The first phase contained a 52,500 sq ft Sainsbury's and 30,000 sq ft of other retail, occupied by Costa Coffee, Boots, Thorntons, Greggs, Hallmark, HD Studio and William Hill. There was also a 486-space car park, a library, public square and 64 flats in the first phase.

Construction work on phase two is expected to complete in September 2012.
