SHOOTERS in the Bierkeller Entertainment Complex in the Printworks has seen a huge rise in the number of Chinese football fans coming to watching live games on the big screen.

So with the city’s Chinese community welcoming in the Year of the Rooster with a colourful few days of events and displays, the bar has decided to join in the fun and wish customers kung hei fat choy for 2017.

The celebrations, from Friday to Sunday, will go off with a bang thanks to traditional firecrackers and there will be 25% off Chinese chicken wings and Chinese Tsingtao beer, and free Chinese tea for everyone taking part.

Isaac Mayne, head of marketing and promotions for Burning Night Group which owns Bierkeller, said, “The rise of the Chinese Super League has made a big impression on world football recently, with so many big name international stars signing huge deals and going to play over there. Even Wayne Rooney has been linked with a move.

“That’s obviously had an influence on the game over here, and as we have the largest non-cinema screen in the city we’ve noticed a real increase in Chinese supporters keen to watch live football.

“We understand that Chinese New Year is the most important festival in the calendar for those fans, so we wanted to respect that and play our part in it.

“We hope all our customers enjoy what we have planned for the weekend, and we wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year.”
